May 21, 2018 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University baseball senior Jake Bernstein (Frederick, Md./St. John's College HS) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, when the conference announced its final weekly awards of the season on Monday. The honor recognizes Bernstein's efforts in GU's three games last week.
Bernstein hit safely in all three games, batting .455 (5-for-11). He started the week with a three-hit, four-RBI performance out of the leadoff spot in an 11-6 win over UMBC, hitting two of Georgetown's seven doubles and tying a career high with four RBIs, including a sacrifice fly. Bernstein singled in each game of Saturday's doubleheader against Seton Hall, and was hit by a pitch in game one to reach base twice.
This is Bernstein's second nod to the honor roll this season, and the ninth of the season for the Hoyas. He was previously recognized on April 16 after hitting two home runs in a weekend series against George Mason.
Georgetown will next compete in the BIG EAST Championship, presented by Jeep, held at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati. The fourth-seeded Hoyas will play top-seeded St. John's in the opening round of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN).
