WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day) nabbed a spot in Friday's 1,500-meter finals on the first day of the 2018 NCAA Track & Field Championships. Historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon is playing host to the four-day championships, held through June 9. The championships will be broadcast live on the ESPN family of networks.
Bartelsmeyer's time of 3:48.00 was enough to clinch a spot on time out of the second of a two-heat semifinal. He will compete in Friday's 1,500-meter final for the first time in his career. Teammate Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) finished 11th in the same heat, missing out on a time qualifier, in the faster of the two heats.
In his last race as a Hoya, GU's Michael Crozier (Arlington, Va./Gonzaga) managed a 14th-place performance in the men's 10,000-meter run. The time was enough to ensure Crozier a nod to the second team when All-America honors are announced on Monday. All-American Jonathan Green (Berlin, Mass./Saint John's School) finished 18th in the race, clocking 29:46.57.
The Hoyas will return to action on Friday, June 8 at the NCAA Track & Field Championships. Live results will be available on www.GUHoyas.com.
