WASHINGTON – Georgetown track & field continued its outdoor season this weekend at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, highlighted by a meet record, multiple event wins, a flurry of personal bests, and a host of additions to the program record books.
At the Virginia Challenge,
Tinoda Matsatsa shattered both the meet and facility records in the 800m Invitational with a season-best time of 1:45.12, the third-fastest mark in the NCAA this season and No. 1 in the BIG EAST.
Victoria Ketzler won the 3,000m steeplechase with a personal best of 10:57.22, and
Jaden Marchan clocked a conference-leading time with a runner-up finish in the 400m (46.15) in his season opener.
Virginia Challenge Results
Georgetown Men
800m Inv.: Tinoda Matsatsa shattered the meet and facility records with a season-best time of 1:45.12 to win the event. Matsatsa's finish ranks third in the NCAA and first in the BIG EAST this season.
Nicholas Medeiros captured seventh with a personal best mark of 1:46.83, while
Edwin Klanke took 17th with a personal best time of 1:47.98. Medeiros's finish moves him to 12th all-time in program history, 29th in the country, and third in the conference.
400m: Jaden Marchan finished second in his season opener with a mark of 46.15, leading the conference.
1,500m: Daniel McCarthy clocked a personal best time of 3:50.03 for an 11th-place finish.
200m: Nicholas Givan finished fifth with a time of 21.77.
Triple Jump: Christian Dohler placed 16th with a season-best mark of 14.93m (48-11.75).
Georgetown Women
200m: Ida Moczerniuk finished 16th with a season-best time of 24.10, moving her to 10th all-time in program history and sixth in the BIG EAST.
3,000m Steeple: Victoria Ketzler recorded the 18th fastest finish in program history and captured the individual win with a personal best mark of 10:57.22. She holds the third-fastest time in the conference.
1,500m: Mary Grace Hegberg finished 17th with a personal best time of 4:18.68. Her time is the 21st fastest in program history and ranks seventh in the conference.
4x100m: The team of
Sofia Calabretta,
Mia Coleman,
Jadah Fitzgerald, Moczerniuk tied the 21st fastest mark in program history, taking seventh with a time of 46.56.
800m Inv.: Emma Bennett placed 15th with a personal best mark of 2:08.34. Bennett's time ranks sixth in the conference.
400m: Fitzgerald finished 35th, recording an outdoor personal best of 56.93.
100m Prelims: Moczerniuk took 10th with a time of 11.82.
Bryan Clay Invitational Results
Georgetown Men
10,000m: MacCallum Rowe recorded the 13th fastest mark in program history after finishing 14th in heat two with a time of 28:59.27. His mark ranks third in the BIG EAST.
Georgetown Women
5,000m: Almi Nerurkar ran the 21st fastest time in program history, placing 16th with a time of 16:19.61. Her finish is the sixth fastest among conference competition.
