Madsen, Musgrave Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

WASHINGTON – Recent Georgetown University graduates Jack Musgrave (C'18) and Sam Madsen (MSB'18) were both named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars. The duo cap off their illustrious careers with the Hoyas following their second BIG EAST Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in the last three seasons.

"We are so proud of Sam and Jack," said Georgetown Head Coach Tommy Hunter. "Not only were they outstanding leaders on the golf course, but they excelled in the classroom as well. This is a testament to their commitment to be the best they could possibly be in their four years on the Hilltop"

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Both standouts co-captained the Blue & Gray to their second BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship in the past three seasons. Madsen led the Hoyas with a 73.57 stroke average while Musgrave was hot on his trail with a 73.93 average. The pair were two of only three Georgetown golfers to play in all 30 rounds this season.

Madsen, an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection in 2018, earned medalist honors for the first time in his collegiate career at the ECU Intercollegiate this season and has finished in the top 10 at the BIG EAST Championship in three of his four seasons on the Hilltop. Off the course, Madsen graduated from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business with a degree in finance and boasted a 3.43 grade point average. He is a four-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team.

Musgrave, a fellow senior captain, finished fourth overall at the BIG EAST Championship to earn All-BIG EAST honors. A four-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, he graduated from the College with a degree in history and an impressive 3.68 grade point average. Musgrave earned Second Honors in the fall semester and Dean's List honor in the spring.

Georgetown also previously earned 2018 18Birdies All-Academic Team accolades. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must have GPAs of 3.00 or higher and submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.

Georgetown posted a 3.41 team GPA in 2017-18, including 10 of the 11 student-athletes with at least a 3.00. Over the course of both semesters, Hoyas earned a pair of First Honors (3.90 and above), five Second Honors (3.70 and above) and three Dean's List (3.50 and above) recognition.
