Lyndse Hokanson Selected to WeCOACH 2018-19 Coaches Council

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University women's soccer assistant coach Lyndse Hokanson was selected to the 2018-19 WeCOACH Coaches Council. The Coaches Council is a selected group of individuals who will help ensure WeCOACH is strategically serving women coaches from all sports and levels.

Founded in 2011, WeCOACH is the premier membership organization committed to recruiting, advancing, and retaining women coaches across all sports and levels. Previously known as the Alliance of Women Coaches, the organization reimagined its brand in August 2018. By providing a supportive and unified network, educational resources, and access to in-person and digital programming opportunities, WeCOACH is changing the landscape for women in coaching.

The 16 members of the Council represent 12 sports across the NCAA Division I, II and III levels, high school, club and two-year colleges. Each Council member serves a two-year term. The terms are staggered to create continuity annually.

Hokanson is in her fourth season as the assistant coach for Hoyas after joining the program in April 2015. During her time at Georgetown, she has worked with the team's goalkeepers and has helped the team win back-to-back BIG EAST Championship titles in 2016 and 2017 and was recognized as Coaching Staff of the Year in 2016 by the United Soccer Coaches. Hokanson helped the squad set multiple team records, including most wins (20 in 2016) and most shutouts (17 in 2017 and 2016) in a season. Her tutelage helped senior Arielle Schechtman (Del Mar, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day / UCLA) break the NCAA shutout percentage record (.809) as Schechtman recorded 17 shutouts in 21 games.

Hokanson also helped guide the team to the College Cup in 2016, GU's most successful season in program history. Additionally, she helped the Blue & Gray capture the BIG EAST regular season title for the first time in program history during the 2017 campaign.
