Box Score WASHINGTON – The No. 10 Georgetown women's soccer team shut out St. Johns, 3-0, in its first BIG EAST matchup this season. The Hoyas defeated the Red Storm with two goals in the first half, recording their sixth shutout of the 2018 season, advancing to 8-0-2 on the year while St. John's fell to 4-6 this year.
"This was a gritty road win against a tough St. Johns' team with some special attacking players," said head coach
Dave Nolan. "They put us under pressure as early as we expected and thankfully Caitlin scored a great goal to give us the lead and it helped settle us. The key goal was the penalty kick just before the break, which was well deserved. In the second half we were very good and could have scored a few more. It was a great team effort, but our front four were very good. To pick up another shutout was a sign of how well we defended, too."
Senior
Caitlin Farrell (Wallingford, Conn. / Choate Rosemary Hall) dominated the game with two goals to give the Hoyas a victory. She put the Blue & Gray in the scoring column in the 35th minute and then junior
Carson Nizialek (Chantilly, Va. / Freedom) gave GU the advantage with 45 seconds left to play in the first half by scoring a goal on a penalty kick, giving Georgetown the lead, 2-0.
