Hoyas Fall On The Road To No. 3 UConn

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University field hockey team drop to 5-13 overall and 1-6 in conference play after going down 5-0 at No. 3 UConn (15-3, 7-0 BIG EAST) Friday evening at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. Senior Michaela Bruno had a shot on goal twice, including a near goal a minute into the game.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • GU got things rolling early when Bruno came close to a goal on the Hoyas' first shot attempt. 

  • The Huskies took a 1-0 lead on a shot from Maddy Wary with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter.

  • Bruno came close to tying things up with just under nine minutes left in the second half.

  • UConn took a 1-0 lead into the half 

  • Sophie Hamilton scored three minutes into the third quarter, giving the Huskies a 2-0.

  • UConn added three goals late to secure the win. 

 

OF NOTE

  • Ciara Weets now has 84 saves on the year. 

  • UConn out shot the Hoyas 21-3

 

UP NEXT

The Hoyas  will face Sacred Heart at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 in the final game of the 2019 season.
