WASHINGTON – Georgetown University field hockey senior forward Michaela Bruno was awarded with a spot on the All-BIG East Conference Second Team as announced on Thursday. The all-conference team was selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.
Bruno had a strong season, proving to be a consistent presence in the Hoyas frontline and midfield all season long. The senior saw action in all 19 games with 13 starts, and she finished second on the team with 10 points. Bruno tied for the team lead with two assists and was tied for second with four goals. She attempted 31 shots with 18 of her shots on goal, both of which ranked second on the Hoyas.
Her biggest goal of the season was the game winner that resulted in a 2-1 victory over La Salle on Nov. 22. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll that same week after also scoring in Georgetown's 3-2 win against Villanova. Bruno capped off the year with a team-high five shots and a goal in a 2-0 victory over Sacred Heart in the season finale.
Bruno becomes the sixth student-athlete to receive All-BIG EAST Second Team honors in program history. Senior back
Anna Farley was the last Hoya to earn all-conference honors, when she was named to the Second Team in 2017.
Georgetown finished the 2019 season with a 6-13 overall record and a 1-6 mark in BIG EAST play.
