WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University swimming & diving team is preparing for its final dual meet of the fall when it hosts Fordham University on Saturday at Albert G. McCarthy Pool. The meet is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
- Georgetown is coming off a split last weekend in a dual meet at BIG EAST rival Villanova. The Hoya men came away with a 175-125 victory, while the women's squad fell 210-95.
- For the men, it was their fourth-straight victory to start the season.
- Brett Sherman led the Blue & Gray with three individual victories as he touched the wall first in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races as well as the 400-yard IM.
- Drew Carbone and Connor Morikawa each came away with two wins apiece.
- On the women's side, Grace Chen (100-yard backstroke), Belinda Donohoe (50-yard freestyle) and Riley Fujioka (3-meter dive) were all victorious.
- On Monday, Sherman was named the BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week for his performance, the sixth weekly award of the season for the Hoyas.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
- Georgetown and Fordham have not met in a dual meet in recent years, but have competed at the Bucknell Invite.
- In last November's meet, the Fordham women finished second with 1,264 points while the Hoyas placed fourth with 992.5 points.
- On the men's side, the Blue & Gray finished third with 984 points, while the Rams were seventh at 715.5.
COMING UP NEXT
Following Saturday's meet, the Hoyas will take a weekend off before making the trip north to Boston for the Terrier Invite, hosted by Boston University. The three-day meet will take place Nov. 22-24.
