No. 17/16 Hoyas Host Robert Morris on Saturday

WASHINGTON – Coming of a season-opening victory over Sacred Heart, the No. 17/16 Georgetown University men's lacrosse team welcomes Robert Morris to Cooper Field on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials are the first of four NCAA Tournament teams from 2018 that the Hoyas will play this season.

Saturday's action is set for a noon opening faceoff. Live stats and video will be available at www.GUHoyas.com with Jeremy Huber calling the play-by-play and Earl Brewer providing color commentary.

Georgetown opened the 2019 campaign with a 13-10 victory over visiting Sacred Heart last Saturday. Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) led the Hoyas with seven points (3G, 4A) en route to earn BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week honors while goalie Owen McElroy (Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood / Avon Old Farms) posted 16 saves on the day for his first career victory and was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md. / St. Mary's) added five points (3G, 2A) to match Bucaro's hat trick while Robert Clark (Cooksville, Md. / McDonogh) added four points (2G, 2A) and Lucas Wittenburg (Kennesaw, Ga. / Harrison / Mercer) chipped in three points (2G, 1A) to eclipse 100 points in his career. Dylan Watson (Guelph, Ont. / The Hill Academy), Jack Elders (Tiburon, Calif. / Redwood) and Declan McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y. / Pleasantville) each contributed a lone goal and Massimo Bucci (Ithaca, N.Y. / IMG Academy) posted an assist.

On the defensive end, Gibson Smith (Pelham, N.Y. / Pelham Memorial) led GU with three caused turnovers while defensive midfielders Patrick Aslanian (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) and Zachary Geddes (Winchester, Mass. / Belmont Hill / Phillips Andover) both caused two turnovers and led the way with five groundballs each.

Freshman James Reilly (Berwyn, Pa. / Conestoga) won 12 of 22 trips to the faceoff 'X'.

Robert Morris (0-1) dropped its season opener on the road at then-No. 9/9 Penn State, 27-10. Tyson Gibson led the Colonials with five points (3G, 2A) while Matt Schmidt and Corson Kealey both tallied two goals. Alex Heger collected 11 saves between the pipes but allowed 23 goals in just over 38 minutes of action. Chris Reynolds came on in relief and held the Nittany Lions to four goals in just under 22 minutes of action to go with three saves.

Georgetown is 2-0 all-time against RMU with both victories coming in each of the last two seasons. The Hoyas won 12-7 on the Hilltop in 2017 and outlasted the Colonials 12-11 in near snowblind conditions last season in Pennsylvania. Bucaro and Carraway both had four-goal performances against RMU last year while Carraway led the way with four goals against the Colonials during his rookie campaign in 2017.

Following Saturday's game, Georgetown remains home as it hosts No. 10/7 Towson on the Hilltop next Saturday, Feb. 23.
