Jake Carraway Named BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University junior Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md. / St. Mary's) was named the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Attack Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Additionally, senior short stick defensive midfielder Patrick Aslanian (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) was selected to the weekly honor roll after the Hoyas defeated Robert Morris 14-11 on Saturday.

Carraway helped the Hoyas to their second win to open the season and tied a team-high with six points (3G, 3A) against the Colonials. He became just the 25th player in Georgetown history to amass 100 career points with his third point of the game, an assist in the opening frame. Carraway added three ground balls on the day and gave Georgetown its first lead of the game in the fourth quarter to complete his hat trick.

Aslanian had a stellar performance on the day in the defensive midfield, earning five caused turnovers while collecting six ground balls. He scored his first goal since 2017 after missing all but the season opener in 2018 and transitioning to the defensive midfield this season. Aslanian's five CTs were the most in a game for a Hoya since 2017 and was only the second time to happen since 2014 for the Blue & Gray. Georgetown's defense held Robert Morris scoreless in the second quarter while the Hoyas held RMU's leading scorer, Tyson Gibson, to just one goal.

The Hoyas have now won back-to-back BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week honors to start the season after Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) collected the accolade last week.

No. 16/18 Georgetown continues its season opening homestand as it hosts No. 9/7 Towson on the Hilltop next Saturday, Feb. 23 at noon.
