WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team welcomes Furman to the Hilltop in a midweek matchup on Tuesday afternoon at Cooper Field. The No. 18/16 Hoyas are 4-1 on the season while the Paladins come the Nation's Capital with a 2-4 record.

Georgetown is coming off a 2-0 week in which it won its first two road games of the season. The Hoyas defeated Mount St. Mary's 13-11 in a midweek battle before rolling past Hofstra 14-6 on Saturday.
Gibson Smith (Pelham, N.Y. / Pelham Memorial) was named the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week and
Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) was selected to the weekly honor roll. Smith helped the Hoyas to a pair of wins on the week and paced Georgetown with 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers. He had six ground balls and three caused turnovers at Mount St. Mary's and added another five ground balls and two caused turnovers at Hofstra. Georgetown allowed just five second half goals in both games combined and only two combined goals in the fourth quarters. Bucaro led the Hoya offense and posted back-to-back hat tricks on the week. He had three goals, including the game-winner, at MSM and added three goals and three assists at Hofstra in front of his hometown crowd.
Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md. / St. Mary's) led all Hoyas with 10 points (5G, 5A) on the week while
Robert Clark (Cooksville, Md. / McDonogh) (6G, 2A) and
Lucas Wittenberg (Kennesaw, Ga. / Harrison / Mercer) (2G, 6A) both had eight points.
Defensively,
Chris Brandau (Timonium, Md. / Boys' Latin) earned the win over the Mountaineers coming off the bench in the second half while
Owen McElroy (Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood [Avon Old Farms]) posted double-digit saves for the fourth time this season with 10 in the win against the Pride.
Bucaro leads the Hoyas with 26 points (16G, 10A) while Carraway is right behind him with 23 point (13G, 10A). Wittenberg has a team-leading 11 assists to go with seven goals for 18 points and Clark rounds out the Hoyas in double figure points with 14 (10G, 4A).
Massimo Bucci (Ithaca, N.Y. / IMG Academy) is fifth on the squad with nine points (6G, 3A).
On the defensive end, Smith leads the Blue & Gray with 27 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
Patrick Aslanian (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) adds nine caused turnovers from the defensive midfield. In goal, McElroy has collected 54 saves on the season with a .524 save percentage.
Furman is coming off an 8-7 home loss to Utah following back-to-back wins against Canisius and Hampton. Five different Paladins have notched double-digit points, led by Jarrett Birch with 16 (13G, 3A). William Holcomb has 14 points (9G, 5A) and David Williamson adds 12 points (10G, 2A) while Gus Pinsoneault (7G, 4A) and Anders Erickson (4G, 7A) both have 11. Cole Horan leads Furman with 19 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
In goal, Alec Van de Bovenkamp has collected 68 saves to go with a 12.39 goals-against average and .489 save percentage.
Georgetown and Furman have met once before, a 16-9 Hoya victory during Furman's inaugural 2014 campaign.
Following Tuesday's game, Georgetown hits the road once again as it travels to take on Fairfield on Saturday, March 9 in Fairfield, Connecticut at 1 p.m.
