WASHINGTON – Coming off of its most dominating win since 2001, the No. 18/16 Georgetown University men's lacrosse team hits the road once again as it takes on Fairfield on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas are 5-1 on the season and have won their last three games, including an undefeated 2-0 on the road.

In GU's last game on Tuesday, six different Hoyas scored multiple goals, while eight found the back of the net, as the Blue & Gray cruised to an 18-6 victory over visiting Furman. Georgetown's 18 goals were the most since an 18-10 win over Vermont in 2015 and the 12-goal differential was the largest margin of victory for the Hoyas since defeating Hobart 17-5 in 2001.
Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md. / St. Mary's) led the Hoyas with seven points (5G, 2A) while
Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) (3G, 3A) and
Robert Clark (Cooksville, Md. / McDonogh) (2G, 4A) both added six.
Declan McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y. / Pleasantville) tallied two goals and two assists for a career-high four points.
James Reilly (Berwyn, Pa. / Conestoga) continued to impress at the 'X', winning 11-of-17 (.647) faceoffs. He led all Hoyas with five ground balls while
Gibson Smith (Pelham, N.Y. / Pelham Memorial), the reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, added four ground balls.
In goal,
Owen McElroy (Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood [Avon Old Farms]) collected six saves and allowed just three goals in a span of 37:51 for his fourth victory of the season.
Chris Brandau (Timonium, Md. / Boys' Latin) came on in relief and finished out the game with three saves.
Bucaro leads the Hoyas with 32 points (19G, 13A) while Carraway is right behind him with 30 points (18G, 12A). Clark adds 20 points (12G, 8A) and
Lucas Wittenberg (Kennesaw, Ga. / Harrison / Mercer) rounds out the Hoyas in double figures with 18 points (7G, 11A).
Massimo Bucci (Ithaca, N.Y. / IMG Academy) is fifth on the squad with nine points (6G, 3A).
On the defensive end, Smith leads the Blue & Gray with 31 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
Patrick Aslanian (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) adds 11 caused turnovers from the defensive midfield. In goal, McElroy has collected 60 saves on the season with a .536 save percentage.
Fairfield (2-2) is coming off a 21-15 victory over Siena in a midweek tilt. The Stags' other win on the season came against Sacred Heart, a team that the Hoyas defeated in the season opener. Dylan Beckwith leads Fairfield with 22 points (10G, 12A) while Tayler Strough (7G, 4A) and Brian Reda (5G, 6A) both have 11 points and Travis Ford (9G, 1A) and Patrick Drake (8G, 2A) each have tallied 10. Faceoff specialist Frankie Labetti has won 44-of-80 (.550) faceoffs and leads the Stags with 31 ground balls.
Defensively, James Corasaniti has posted a 2-1 record between the pipes and has 45 saves to go with a 12.30 goals-against average and .500 save percentage. Jake Tyman has been credited with seven caused turnovers to lead the Stags.
Georgetown and Fairfield have played five times in program history with the Hoyas owning a series 4-1 advantage. The last meeting came in 2016 and was the lone Stag victory, a 13-9 decision on the Hilltop. Bucaro had a goal and an assist to go with three ground balls in the game during his freshman campaign.
Following Saturday game, Georgetown returns home to host Drexel on Saturday, March 16 at Cooper Field.
