WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's openweight rowing team sent three boats to compete over the weekend in the Cherry Hill Invite on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Each boat hit the water twice on Saturday with the varsity eight squad finishing the day with a third place finish in the grand final.
 
The varsity eight boat finished first in its heat with a time of 6:57.77. Following the Hoyas were Bucknell, Jacksonville, Old Dominion and Holy Cross. GU's first place finish put them in lane four of the Grand Final where they crossed the finish line in third place, 9.98 seconds off the pace of first place finisher, Rhode Island.
 
In the women's second varsity eight event, the Blue & Gray finished fourth, behind Connecticut, Bucknell and St. Joseph's, which put them in the Petite Final later in the afternoon. In the field of six, Georgetown took home first place and beat its morning time by five seconds.
 
The women's varsity four boat took to the water at 10:34 a.m. to race in third heat of event three. The Hoyas picked up first place and clocked a time of 8:33.49, edging St. Joseph's by .80 seconds. In the Grand Final, GU finished fifth in the field of six.
