WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team jumps back into BIG EAST play this weekend as the Hoyas host a three-game series against St. John's at Shirley Povich Field. Friday and Saturday's games are set for 7 p.m. while Sunday's series finale will begin at 1 p.m. Live stats and a video stream for all three games will be available at GUHoyas.com.
The Hoyas (13-27, 2-4 BIG EAST) are coming off an 18-6 setback to George Washington on Wednesday evening.
Alex Rosen (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) hit a grand slam in the loss while
Eddie McCabe (Norwalk, Conn. / Conn.) finished with two hits and was also on base with a walk.
James Gabor (Wyndmoor, Pa. / William Penn Charter School) and
AJ Lotsis (Phoenixville, Pa. / Episcopal Academy) each had a single and a double while
Ryan M. Davis (Danville, Calif. / San Ramon Valley),
Tony Barreca (Long Grove, Iowa / North Scott) and
Kai Nelson (New York, N.Y. / Fieldston) were all on base twice with a hit and a walk.
On Monday,
Kyle Ruedisili (Jupiter, Fla. / The Benjamin School / Washington and Lee University) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for his performance in GU's doubleheader sweep over Rider on Saturday. He had three hits within the first three innings of game one, leading off the game with a double and scoring one batter later. Ruedisili also added a two-run double in the second inning as he finished with three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs in the first game. He led off game two with a solo home run, his team-leading seventh of the year which is the most by a Hoya since 2015, and added a sacrifice fly later in the game and scored in GU's five-run seventh inning that helped complete the sweep.
For the season, McCabe leads the Hoyas with a .320 (47 for 147) batting average and is second with 19 RBIs. Ruedisili leads the Hoyas with seven home runs, 14 doubles, 32 runs scored, 23 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and a .570 slugging percentage. He is also second with two triples and a .281 (38 for 135) batting average.
Ryan Weisenberg (Parkland, Fla. / San Ramon Valley [Calif.]) is also batting .281 (36 for 128) while
Ryan M. Davis (Danville, Calif. / San Ramon Valley) has hit two home runs and is second on the squad with 12 doubles and six stolen bases. As a team, Georgetown is batting .262 and has already surpassed last year's total with 27 home runs. The pitching staff has a 5.67 team ERA.
St. John's enters the weekend with a 24-13 overall record and a 5-4 mark in BIG EAST play. The Red Storm has won 20 of its last 25 contests after defeating Stony Brook 6-3 on Tuesday. In conference play, St. John's has won series over Butler and Villanova, while dropping two of three to Xavier. Mike Antico leads the Red Storm with a.341 (42 for 123) batting average and 15 stolen bases and has four home runs to go along with 21 RBIs. Sean McGeehan leads the squad with five home runs while Ryan Markey has a team-high 27 RBIs. As a whole, St. John's is batting .272 while the pitching staff has a 3.61 team ERA.

Following this weekend's series, the Hoyas make a quick trip to Catonsville, Maryland for a midweek contest against UMBC. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. The Blue & Gray will then return to Shirley Povich Field for a three-game BIG EAST series against Creighton next weekend, May 3-5.
