Daniel Bucaro Named BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week, Hoyas Travel to No. 2/2 Loyola

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team closes out a three-game road swing as it travels up I-95 to take on No. 2/2 Loyola Maryland on Tuesday night in Baltimore. Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) was named the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week as well, as announced by the league office on Monday after the Hoyas picked up their first conference win of the season.

Bucaro posted four goals to go with a pair of assists as the Blue & Gray completed a 17-15 come-from-behind victory on the road at Providence on Saturday. He has been named the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week three times this season to lead all players.

Along with Bucaro's six points, Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md. / St. Mary's) added three goals and two assists, including the game-winning score against the Friars. Dylan Watson (Guelph, Ontario / The Hill Academy) recorded his first career hat trick while fellow freshman Declan McDermott (Pleasantville, N.Y. / Pleasantville) added two goals and two assists. Massimo Bucci (Ithaca, N.Y. / IMG Academy) had a goal and two assists, Robert Clark (Cooksville, Md. / McDonogh) had a goal and an assist while Austin McDonald (Olney, Md. / Georgetown Prep), Gibson Smith (Pelham, N.Y. / Pelham Memorial) and Patrick Aslanian (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) each tallied lone goals.

Defensively, Owen McElroy (Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood / Avon Old Farms) hauled in 12 saves for the win between the pipes. James Reilly (Berwyn, Pa. / Conestoga) collected a team-high eight ground balls while Smith hauled in five and Carraway had four.

Tuesday's game is set for a 7:00 p.m. opening faceoff. The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network with Ben Holden calling the action and Evan Washburn providing commentary. Live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.

On the season, Bucaro (38G, 20A) leads the Hoyas with 58 points while Carraway (32G, 22A) is right behind him with 54. Bucaro leads the BIG EAST in goal scoring and points while Carraway is the top assist man in the league.

Lucas Wittenberg (Kennesaw, Ga. / Harrison / Mercer) adds 32 points (13G, 19A), Clark chips in 29 points (19G, 10A) while McDermott, Bucci and Watson round out the Hoyas in double figures with 15, 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Defensively, Smith leads the Blue & Gray with a BIG EAST-leading 58 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers while Aslanian has 18 CTs. In goal, McElroy has collected 121 saves on the season with a .528 save percentage and an 11.01 goals-against average.

Loyola (8-2) welcomes the Hoyas to Charm City as the second-ranked team in the nation. The Greyhounds have won four-straight games and are coming off of a 15-9 victory over Lehigh on Senior Day at Ridley Athletic Complex on Saturday.

Pat Spencer leads the 'Hounds with 77 points (34G, 43A) while Kevin Lindley adds 44 points (41G, 3A) and Chase Scanlan chips in 40 points (30G, 10A). John Duffy, Aidan Olmstead, Alex McGovern and Peter Swindell all add at least 10 points so far this season as well.

Defensively, Jacob Stover has started every game between the pipes and has 149 saves to go with a .611 save percentage and a 9.50 GAA. Ryan McNulty has been credited with 14 caused turnover and has collected 40 ground balls, tops for a non-faceoff specialist.

Georgetown and Loyola have squared off 41 times in program history, the longest running rivalry for the Hoyas. Loyola owns a 34-7 series advantage, including an 11-8 win on the Hilltop last season. The last meeting in Baltimore was a one-goal affair with the 'Hounds claiming an 11-10 victory despite a late rally by the Blue & Gray.

Following Tuesday's game, Georgetown returns home to face No. 16/14 Villanova on Sunday, April 14 in BIG EAST action.
