DENVER – Georgetown University senior
Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) was named the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Attack Player of the Year while three fellow Hoyas joined him on the All-BIG EAST First Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Senior
Lucas Wittenberg (Kennesaw, Ga. / Harrison / Mercer), junior
Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md. / St. Mary's) and sophomore
Gibson Smith (Pelham, N.Y. / Pelham Memorial) were all also picked, the first time that Georgetown has had four players selected to the first team.
Bucaro, a two-time Tewaaraton Award Nominee, has been named All-BIG EAST all four seasons on the Hilltop. He was a second team honoree in 2016 and named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year before garnering first team accolades as both a sophomore and a junior. Bucaro shared BIG EAST lead in scoring with Carraway with 5.07 points per game, tying the league lead in goals with 48 while adding 23 assists. He was named the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week three times this season.
Coming off a season-ending injury a year ago, Bucaro didn't miss a beat for his final campaign. He had at least a hat trick in 14 of Georgetown's 15 games, including four goals three times and five goals twice. Bucaro posted seven points against Sacred Heart and Fairfield while adding six points against Robert Morris, Hofstra, Furman, Drexel, Providence and Villanova. He had four man-up goals on the year and tallied the game winners against SHU, RMU, Mount St. Mary's and Fairfield.

He ranked sixth in the BIG EAST in points per game with 3.21, coming off of 20 goals and 25 assists to reach the 20-goal/20-assist mark on the season for the second-straight campaign. Wittenberg's 25 assists were the third most in the league this season.
A dangerous threat from the midfield, Wittenberg posted three hat tricks on the season and closed out the BIG EAST season with a pair of three-goal, three-assist performances against Villanova and St. John's. He dished out three assists on six different occasions.
Carraway earned his first postseason accolade after putting together one of the most impressive offensive seasons in program history. He led the BIG EAST in scoring, matching Bucaro's 5.07 ppg and 48 goals while recording a league-high 28 assists. Carraway was named the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week three times this season and was selected to the USILA Team of the Week twice.
One of the top offensive threats in the nation, Carraway scored a goal in every game this season including five goals three times, four goals four times and three hat tricks. His nine points (4G, 5A) against Fairfield was a team high this season while also notching seven points (5G, 2A) against both Furman and Villanova. Carraway also had five man-up goals and netted the game winners against Drexel, Providence and Villanova.
Smith also earns first team honors after second team recognition as a freshman. He led the BIG EAST in ground balls with 84 and caused turnovers with 25. Smith was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week once this year.

He had five games with three caused turnovers and collected at least five ground balls on nine different occasions, setting a career-high with 12 in the season finale against St. John's. Smith also scored a pair of goals in transition this season.
