WASHINGTON – Georgetown University sophomore infielder
Eddie McCabe (Norwalk, Conn. / Norwalk) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, when the conference announced is final weekly awards of the season on Monday. The award recognizes McCabe's efforts in GU's four games last week.
McCabe closed out the 2019 season in style, registering hits in all four games last week, including three multi-hit efforts in all three games of Georgetown's series against Butler. After a 1-for-4 performance against UMBC in a midweek win, McCabe had two hits and an RBI in each of the first two games against the Bulldogs. He also walked twice on Thursday, reaching base safely in all four plate appearances. In Saturday's season finale, McCabe had a career day to help the Hoyas overcome a seven-run deficit for a 12-9 victory, going 4 for 4 with his first career multi-home run game while also scoring three runs and driving in four. He also walked to reach base safely five times. Overall, McCabe batted .643 (9 for 16) with a .706 on-base percentage and a 1.071 slugging percentage over the final four games.
This is McCabe's second career honor roll selection, and the first of this season. Overall, it is the eighth honor roll nod of the year for the Blue & Gray.
The Hoyas concluded the 2019 season with a 22-34 overall record and a 7-11 mark in BIG EAST play, finishing in fifth place, just one game out of a postseason berth.
