Pair of Former Hoyas Named Pro Lacrosse All-Stars

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's lacrosse alums Nick Marrocco (B'18) and Brodie Merrill (C'05) were both named all-stars by their respective professional lacrosse leagues for the 2019 season. Marrocco earns his first all-star nod with the Boston Cannons from Major League Lacrosse while Merrill was selected as an all-star playing for Chaos Lacrosse Club in the inaugural season of the Premiere Lacrosse League.

In his second season with the Cannons, Marrocco has collected 70 saves while posting a 53.4 save percentage and a 12.20 goals-against average. He has also pulled in 21 grounds balls and was credited with a pair of caused turnovers to lead Boston to a 4-1 record.

A four-year starter in goal for the Blue & Gray, Marrocco was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) First Team All-American as a senior and led the Hoyas to their first BIG EAST Championship in program history.

Merrill, a two-time USILA First Team All-American and two-time Tewaaraton Award Finalist with the Hoyas, has collected 23 ground balls to go with four caused turnovers in six games this season to lead the Chaos to a 4-2 overall record.

The PLL All-Star game will take place on July 21 at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles while the MLL All-Star Game will take place on July 27 at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.
