WASHINGTON – The Georgetown track & field team nabbed six total nods to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team. With a trio each for the men and women, the Blue & Gray is second in the BIG EAST Conference for most honorees from a league institution. Additionally, the women's team was named an all-academic squad.
To be named an individual all-academic standout by the USTFCCCA, a student-athlete must maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher and have met either of the following athletic standards: 1) for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event or 2) for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships, including preliminary rounds.
The women's team tallied three named all-academic in
Sami Corman (Bellevue, Wash. / Issaquah),
Meg Mathison (Middleton, Wis. / Waunakee) and
Cathilyn McIntosh (Loomis, Calif. / Del Oro).
For the men, a trio of Hoyas were named all-academic in
Ian Delgado (Cary, N.C. / Green Hope),
Christian Liddell (Rogers, Ark. / Rogers) and
Kenny Rowe (Cockeysville, Md. / Loyola Blakefield).
Georgetown's six total nods ranks third in the BIG EAST Conference behind Butler (8) and Villanova (8). GU was one of four league institutions to earn individual honors on both the men's and women's squads with Butler, Marquette and Providence joining the Blue & Gray.
In order to be named an all-academic team, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA. Georgetown was one of eight BE institutions on the women's side to be named all-academic.
