Liotta and Hoyas Earn IWLCA Academic Accolades

WASHINGTON – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized Georgetown as one of 303 schools to earn academic squad honors across all divisions for the 2019 season. Additionally, junior midfielder Liza Liotta (Baltimore, Md. / St. Paul's School for Girls) was among 501 student-athletes named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

The IWLCA honored 501 student-athletes from 99 different institutions with inclusion in the 2019 IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Liotta will be GU's third-leading returning scorer next season after posting 15 goals and five assists for 20 points in 2019.  As a junior she started in 17 games and appeared in all 21 for the Blue & Gray.  Liotta also managed 14 ground balls, nine caused turnovers and five draw controls.  She is a finance major and a psychology minor.

Liotta is the first Georgetown honoree since the 2017 season.

For academic squad honors, the Hoyas were included after posting a team GPA over 3.0, which met the criteria for the award. Georgetown was among six schools from the BIG EAST to receive the award.
