WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University field hockey team (2-2) will visit Lawrenceville, New Jersey to face Rider (2-1) on Friday, Sept. 13. The Blue & Gray will follow Friday's matchup against the Broncs with a trip to Lehigh (2-0) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to finish out the road trip. About The Hoyas
Georgetown is off to a 2-2 start on the season after splitting last weekend with a win against Longwood before dropping a tough one to James Madison. Junior Ali Cronin gifted the Hoyas their first road win of the year after scoring a late game winner against Longwood to secure a 2-1 GU win. James Madison scored two fourth quarter goals to edge the Hoyas 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Senior Lindsay Getz currently leads Georgetown with seven points, picking up three in week two and moving into the top three among the conference leaders in points. Sophomore goalkeeper Ciara Weets currently leads the Big East with 26 saves on the year. Freshman Ellie Maransky has five points and senior Michaela Bruno has three points to round out the Hoya scoring leaders. The Blue & Gray has attempted 47 shots through four games, 32 of which has been on goal. Opponents have attempted 52 shots with 33 shots-on-goal.
Scouting Rider
The Broncs are 2-1 coming of an 11-8 performance last season. Rider was picked to finish second in the Northeast Conference (NEC) preseason polls, the program's first season in the conference. The Broncs return three all-conference performers in senior Tess Coorens, sophomore Carly Brosious and junior goalkeeper Lena Vandam. Vandam is off to a great start after being awarded NEC Defensive Player of the Week for her week two performance in Rider's 2-1 double-overtime win against La Salle. Brosious is also making a run at another all-conference finish after her two-goal performance in the Broncs 3-1 win at Drexel on Tuesday.
The Broncs are 6-0 all-time against the Hoyas with the last meeting coming in 2017.
Scouting Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks are off to a 2-0 start after last year's 3-15 finish. Lehigh was penciled in to finish fifth in the Patriot League. Junior Lenke Havas, an All-Patriot League honoree as a freshman and sophomore was named to the preseason All-Patriot League team. Junior Drew Pecora leads the Mountain Hawks with five points and freshmen Sarah Bonthuis (Rookie of the Week) and Sydney White (Defensive Player of the Week) were recognized for the performances in Lehigh's 4-1 win verses Towson. The Mountain Hawks defeated Rider 1-0 in their season opener.
Lehigh will host Richmond on Friday before Sunday's match against the Hoyas. Georgetown defeated the Mountain Hawks 7-1 in last year's meeting. GU's Emily Fraser and Cami Osborne had two goals apiece
