About The Hoyas
Georgetown started the season off against Davidson last weekend, securing its first win on the year by downing the Wildcats 5-2 in the season opener. GU's win landed freshman Ellie Maransky on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after her five-point performance on two goals and one assist. The Hoyas were also handed their first defeat of the year in a 1-0 loss to Appalachian State in week one.
Maransky's five points leads the BIG EAST and the freshman is currently tied with senior Lindsay Getz with two goals to lead Georgetown after one week of play. Senior Michaela Bruno has two points to round out the Hoya scoring and point leaders. The Blue & Gray has attempted 32 shots through two games, 23 of which has been on goal. Opponents have been held to 12 shots-on-goal on 18 attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper Ciara Weets has nine saves to her credit.
Scouting Longwood
Longwood was 9-7 last season and enters Friday's game at 1-1. The Lancers went down 3-1 in their season opener at Monmouth despite scoring the opening goal. Longwood was outshot 21-6 in the loss. Led by by All-MAC performer and redshirt senior Katie Wyman, the Lancers were dominant in a 4-0 win against LIU. Wyman has 21 saves through two games. All-MAC senior forward Olivia Wawrzyniak and last year's MAC Freshman of the Year Luna Lopez also returns for her second season with the Lancers. Lopez and senior defender Clara Meschini lead Longwood with three points apiece.
The Hoyas head into this year's meeting off a 2-1 shootout win last season and will look to spoil the Lancers' home opener.
Scouting James Madison
JMU posted a 6-12 record last year and currently stands at 1-1. JMU was picked to finish third in the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Poll and the Dukes will look to Preseason All-CAA selections redshirt senior Miranda Rigg, junior Rachel Yeager and sophomore Ongeziwe Mali during their 2019 campaign. The Dukes won their opener 3-2 against Bucknell behind two goals from redshirt sophomore Marina Rupinski and one from Rigg. Rigg was also able to find the back of the cage in JMU's 5-1 defeat to the nation's No. 20 ranked Liberty Flames last Sunday.
James Madison will host No. 14 Ohio State on Friday before welcoming Georgetown on Sunday.
