WASHINGTON – The No. 19/19 Georgetown University women's lacrosse senior
Katie Hudson was named the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year as the team was picked to finish second in the BIG EAST Conference by the league's coaches in the 2020 preseason poll released Friday. Additionally, Hudson along with three additional Hoyas were named Preseason All-BIG EAST including two earning the honor unanimously.

Unanimous Preseason All-BIG EAST
- Already named Third Team Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse and was a unanimous BIG EAST selection.
- Last season, she was a Second Team All-South Region honoree and a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree after a solid junior season on the backline.
- She moved into the starting lineup midway through the year and was second on the team in caused turnovers with 23 to her credit.
- Following some big performances, Hudson was named the BIG EAST Defender of the Week on April 16 after scoring her first-career goal in a win at Villanova.
Natalia Lynch
Unanimous Preseason All-BIG EAST
- The senior midfielder earned unanimous honors from the league's coaches.
- Lynch appeared in 17 games with 15 starts last year due to an injury.
- She still managed to rank sixth on the squad in scoring with 22 goals and nine assists for 31 points on the year. Lynch also led the team in caused turnovers with 27 and was second on the team in draw controls with 56.
- Last year, Lynch was a Second Team All-BIG EAST honoree marking her second-career postseason league award.
- She currently ranks fifth in program history in career draws with 158 and her 56 draws in 2019 rank her 10th all-time.
Michaela Bruno
Preseason All-BIG EAST
- The senior attacker earned her first-career preseason award after an outstanding junior campaign.
- Bruno was a Second Team All-BIG EAST honoree after ranking fourth on the squad in scoring with 34 goals and 13 assists for 47 points.
- She started in all 21 games for the Blue & Gray and earned BIG EAST Attacker of the Week on March 26.
Mollie Miller
Preseason All-BIG EAST
- In two seasons on the Hilltop, the junior defender has twice earned All-BIG EAST honors.
- Last year, she started all 21 games on the backline for the Blue & Gray.
- She was fifth on the team in caused turnovers with 13, and managed two draw controls as well.
- This is her second-career Preseason All-BIG EAST selection.
Georgetown earned 21 points from the league's six head coaches as well as one first-place vote to sit in second behind the University of Denver with 25 points and five first place votes. Villanova claimed third with 16 points, followed by Marquette in fourth with 14. Old Dominion and Butler rounded out the poll in fifth and sixth, respectively.
Georgetown finished the 2019 season with 12 wins as well as a BIG EAST Championship and the first trip to the NCAA Tournament Second Round since 2014. Georgetown managed back-to-back double overtime victories to capture the league championship and a tournament win before falling to Syracuse 14-8.
The Hoyas will open the 2020 campaign on Saturday, February 8 as the squad hosts Saint Joseph's at Cooper Field at 2 p.m.
