WASHINGTON -- The Georgetown women's cross country team, along with five student-athletes from both squads, earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their performance during the 2019 season, announced on Thursday. To individually qualify for the all-academic honor, athletes must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above based off of a 4.0 scale, along with a top-25 finish in the regional meet. To qualify as a team, the cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Alyssa Aldridge,
Sami Corman and
Madeline Perez were individually recognized for their academic and athletic achievements on the women's team. Aldridge, a sophomore, is an undeclared business major and finished in 18th place at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals last November. Corman, a sophomore, is a biology major and finished in 10th place at regionals. Perez, a December 2019 graduate, majored in finance with a minor in economics and finished in fifth place at regionals. Aldridge, Corman and Perez are three of 166 women who received all-academic honors in NCAA Division I.
Spencer Brown and
Jack Van Scoter were individually recognized for their academic and athletic performance on the men's team. Brown, a graduate student, is a professional studies (sports industry management) major and finished in eighth place at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals. Van Scoter, a senior, is an international history major and finished in 11th place at regionals. Brown and Van Scoter are two of 117 male athletes who received all-academic honors in NCAA Division I.
The women's team, coached by
Julie Culley, was recognized as an all-academic team. The squad was one of 267 teams that received all-academic honors in NCAA Division I.
