Georgetown Hosts No. 14/12 Villanova to Close Regular Season

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team closes out the regular season when it hosts No. 14/12 Villanova on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff at Capital One Arena is scheduled for noon. It is the ninth game for the Hoyas against an AP-ranked opponent, who enter the contest with a 15-15 overall record with a 5-12 mark in BIG EAST action. Prior to the game, the Hoyas will honor its six seniors who will be participating in their final regular season home game of their careers. The team will honor graduate student Terrell Allen, seniors Jagan Mosely, George Muresan and Omer Yurtseven as well as managers Michael Delmont and Allen Reed.

 
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
  • Saturday's game will be broadcast on FOX with Gus Johnson calling the play-by-play and Jim Jackson providing analysis and Andy Katz on the sideline.
  • The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin in his 46th season on the call.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Despite four players in double figures, including the first career double-double by Qudus Wahab, the Georgetown University men's basketball team fell at No. 11/14 Creighton 91-76 on Wednesday night in a BIG EAST Conference game at CHI Health Center Omaha.
  • Jahvon Blair led the Hoyas with 22 points, his fifth 20-point effort of the season.
  • Jamorko Pickett finished with 17 points, while Qudus Wahab recorded his first career double-double with career highs of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Terrell Allen rounded out those in double figures with 10 points.
  • Blair paced the offense with a career-high seven assists while Jagan Mosely chipped in five helpers.
  • Georgetown shot 40 (26-65) percent from the field and had 17 assists on 26 made field goals.
 
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Omer Yurtseven leads the Hoyas in both scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (10.0 rpg), both of which rank among the top 10 in the BIG EAST. He is one of just three players in the BIG EAST to be averaging a double-double.
  • In league play, five Hoyas are averaging double figures with Mac McClung's 16.0 ppg leading the way followed by Blair (13.5), Yurtseven (13.2), Allen (11.4) and Picket (10.8). Mosely is just behind the quintet contributing 9.4 ppg in BIG EAST action.
  • The Hoyas are second in the BIG EAST with 15.0 assists per game, having recorded at least 20 assists in a game on five occasions. Allen ranks sixth in the conference with 4.0 apg, while Mosely is eighth at 3.7 apg.
  • Blair is currently 12th all-time in program history with 141 career 3-pointers. Mosely has 345 career assists which ranks 14th on GU's career list.
  • Yurtseven has grabbed 250 rebounds on the season, which is 25th on Georgetown's single-season list.
 
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
  • Villanova enters Saturday's game with a 23-7 overall record and a 12-5 mark in BIG EAST play after a win over league-leading Seton Hall on Wednesday.
  • The Wildcats are averaging 73.3 ppg, while allowing opponents to score just 66.3 ppg, which ranks second in the BIG EAST.
  • Saddiq Bey leads five Villanova players scoring in double figures with 16.0 ppg. Collin Gillespie is right behind him at 15.3 ppg.
  • Jeremiah Robinson-Earl leads the way with 9.6 rpg, while Gillespie is averaging 4.4 apg. 
 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Saturday will be the 86th all-time meeting between the longtime BIG EAST rivals with the Hoyas holding a 44-41 series advantage.
  • Earlier this year, the Hoyas dropped an 80-66 decision to then-No. 16/16 Villanova at the Wells Fargo Center.
  • Wahab led four in double figures with a career-best 13 points in 14 minutes off the bench.
  • Pickett added 12 points and six rebounds. Allen and Yurtseven each had 10 points apiece and Yurtseven added a team-best seven boards.
  • Patrick Ewing is 1-4 against Villanova as GU's head coach and was 7-3 during his playing career.
 
COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will travel to New York City for the 2020 BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden. Seedings and matchups will be determined at the conclusion of Saturday's slate of conference games.
