Women's Lacrosse

Dear Lacrosse

With the 2020 spring season coming to an abrupt end, members of the women's lacrosse squad will be sharing their thoughts and what the sport means to them over the coming weeks.  This week we're hearing from senior, Noelle Peragine.

Dear Lacrosse,

I never thought you would come to an end, not this soon. You have helped me become who I am today. You have taught me so many lessons. You have taught me personal discipline and mental grit. You have taught me what it means to be reliable, accountable and trustworthy. You have helped me realize that I can run faster when I am out of breath and work harder after hours of practice. To put in extra work when nobody is watching. Positivity and becoming comfortable being uncomfortable pushes forward. Thank you for helping me believe in myself. But most importantly, you have taught me how to be a good teammate.

Thank you for giving me my best friends. I have learned to play for the people besides me. Waking up every day working for a collective goal and pushing each other to become the best version of ourselves has created a special bond that is indescribable. Every single person on the team is valuable and every person has something to contribute. You have taught me to cherish the successes of my friends. To celebrate the ups and help each other climb out of the downs. No matter how many times we win or lose, I have made memories with my best friends.

This year we were asked the question why. Why do we play lacrosse? Reflecting back on my career, I play for them. I play for the laughing on the bus, for the singing and dancing during stretching lines, for the celebrations after winning the Big East Championship, for the walks to the weight room at 6 am and so much more. You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. Thank you for teaching me to hold onto the people I love and the memories I never want to lose.

Love,
Noelle
