WASHINGTON – Three Georgetown University men's lacrosse alums won the 2020 Major League Lacrosse Championship with the Boston Cannons. Charlie Ford (C'16), Reilly O'Connor (B'15) and Nick Marrocco (B'18) hoisted the Steinfeld Trophy at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland on Sunday.
The Cannons defeated the Denver Outlaws 13-10 in the 20th championship game in the league's history. Marrocco collected 10 saves in the game to go with a .526 save percentage. O'Connor recorded an assist and had three ground balls while Ford chipped in a caused turnover and a ground ball on the defensive end.
For the runner-up Outlaws, former Hoyas
Daniel Bucaro (C'19) and
Patrick Aslanian (B'19) both had solid days as well. Bucaro posted four points on the day with three goals and an assist while Aslanian chipped in a two-point goal as well.
Georgetown has a long history of representation on MLL championship teams. Thirteen different Hoyas have combined for 19 appearances on teams that would go on to win the title.
