Evanko, May Named WGCA All-American Scholars

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team had a pair of players named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, as announced by the association. Kate Evanko earned the selection for the second-straight year while Lauren May earned her first nod. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team was a minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
 
In her final season on the Hilltop, Evanko participated in five of GU's six tournaments. In 14 rounds played, she ranked fifth on the Hoyas with a 78.71 stroke average. She had her best tournament finish at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in October, tying for 16th place overall with a 10-over par 226 including a season-low round of 74. Evanko, who graduated in May with a degree in finance, was a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection and finished her career with a 79.23 stroke average in 31 rounds.
 
May had a spectacular freshman season, leading the Hoyas with a 76.47 stroke average in her first six collegiate events, finishing as the team's leading scorer in six tournaments. She broke par with a 1-under 71 in her first career round at the Cougar Classic and fired a 2-under par 70 in the first round of the Nittany Lion Invitational. An international affairs major, May had her best finish at the Lady Blue Invitational, tying for 19th overall to help lead Georgetown to a third-place finish.
