Hoyas to Face No. 3/5 UConn on Saturday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team (1-4, 1-4 BIG EAST) will travel to Storrs, Connecticut on Saturday to rekindle an old BIG EAST Conference rivalry in a 2 p.m. matchup with the UConn Huskies at Gampel Pavilion.The game will be broadcast live on the SportsNet New York (SNY) with Allen Bestwick and Meg Culmo calling the action.

About the Hoyas
  • The Hoyas lost a tough one at Marquette on Wednesday falling 72-40.
  • Graduate student Milan Bolden-Morris was the lone Hoya in double figures with 11 points to go along with four rebounds and a block.
  • Jillian Archer added nine points and a squad-best seven boards in the game.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 35.7 percent (16-61) but allowed 50.0 percent (32-56) shooting by the Golden Eagles. Georgetown was outrebounded 41-30 had had 13 turnovers while forcing 12 for Marquette.
  • On Monday, freshman Kelsey Ransom was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after two solid games for the Hoyas.
  • Ransom averaged 11.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.5 spg and 1.5 apg for the Hoyas over two games.
  • She led the Blue & Gray with 13 points to go along with seven rebounds against DePaul on Saturday.
  • In last Wednesday's contest at Butler, Ransom scored nine points with five rebounds and had an impressive four steals.
  • It marked Georgetown's first BIG EAST Freshman of the Week award since Dionna White won on February 8, 2016.
About the Huskies
  • UConn is 9-0 overall and a perfect 7-0 in BIG EAST play in its first season back.
  • The Huskies' nonconference wins came against UMass Lowell (79-23) and No. 25/RV Tennessee on Thursday evening by a score of 67-61 which was squad's only single-digit win this season.
  • In UConn's win over Tennessee, Christyn Williams led the three in double figures with 20 points, while Evina Westbrook added 15.
  • Olivia Nelson-Ododa was active on the boards tallying 11 rebounds to accompany her seven points in the contest.
  • Paige Bueckers currently leads the team in scoring with 17.1 ppg as four Huskies average in double digits.

  • The Hoyas are 6-45 all-time against the Huskies and 2-22 on the road.
  • The teams have not met since UConn's last year in the BIG EAST when GU fell 75-48 at McDonough Arena on January 9, 2013.
  • The last meeting in Connecticut was in 2012 when the Blue & Gray lost by a score of 80-38, it also marked GU's last time at Gampel Pavilion.
  • Georgetown's last win over UConn was a 64-62 victory on the road on February 27, 1993.
