Duo of Hoyas Earn BIG EAST Awards

WASHINGTON – The BIG EAST announced Monday morning that freshman Cyanne Doyle was named Freshman of the Week and Gia Vicari earned Weekly Honors. The awards come following Georgetown's 5-0 victory over Villanova on Thursday afternoon. Georgetown's record rose to 9-0-6 overall and 5-0-2 in the BIG EAST after the win.

Cyanne Doyle

  • Doyle tallied one assist and scored two goals over the Wildcats on Thursday to help secure a 5-0 win for the Hoyas.
  • In the 13th minute, Vicari sailed a ball across the 18-yard box to Doyle who laid the ball off at the penalty spot to senior midfielder Devon Lis who was running into the area. Lis mistouched the ball, but quickly shifted her feet and struck the ball blasting it into the top of the net putting Georgetown up 2-0 over Villanova.
  • The Highland Ranch, Colorado native scored her first goal of the game in the 17th minute from a cross by fellow freshman Eliza Turner. The cross deflected off the crossbar and dropped at the feet of Doyle who was in the six-yard box ready to tap the ball into the net.
  • The forward found the net again in the 72nd minute in a similar manner as her first goal. Vicari placed a ball directly across the six and Doyle was there to tap it in yet again.
  • She has five goals with three assists on the season so far for a total of 13 points.

Gia Vicari

  • The junior forward tallied one goal and three assists against the Wildcats.
  • Vicari scored the game-winning goal less than two minutes into the game as she beat her defender on the endline and slotted the ball high left past the Villanova keeper.
  • The Reading, Pennsylvania native's first assist was a longball across the field to Doyle who played the ball in to senior Devon Lis at the penalty spot who was able to put the Hoyas up 2-0.
  • Her second assist was the through ball she played to Turner for Doyle to score in the 17th minute making it 3-0.
  • Her last assist was the ball to Doyle late in the game to seal the 5-0 victory for the Blue & Gray.
