WASHINGTON – Georgetown University midfielders Dante Polvara and Sean Zawadzki were two of 15 men's soccer student-athletes that were selected on Tuesday as semifinalists for Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy, the country's top college soccer honor.

• This is his second time being named a MAC Hermann semifinalist after earning the distinction a season ago.
• Polvara was the 2021 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year as well as a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
• He has started all 21 games for the Blue & Gray and currently leads the team in scoring with seven goals and six assists for 20 points.
• Three of his goals were game winners this season.
• The team captain was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week twice this year as well as earning a nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor roll this season.
• He was a member of the organization's preseason watch list.
• Polvara is one of just three juniors to make the list.

Sean Zawadzki

• This is his first honor from the organization.
• Zawadzki was the 2021 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
• He has started all 21 games for the Blue & Gray and has one goal with four assists on the season for six points.
• The two-year team captain was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week twice this year.
• This is his first honor from the MAC Hermann organization.
• Polvara is one of just three juniors to make the list.

Georgetown and the MAC Hermann Trophy

• Polvara and Zawadzki are Georgetown's seventh and eighth semifinalists in program history.
• Polvara was recognized in 2020 making him the second two-time honoree in program history
• Dylan Nealis made the list in 2019, Brandon Allen earned the honor in 2015, Joshua Yaro was named in 2014 and Steve Neumann is GU's other two-time honoree in both 2012 and 2013.
• Nealis and Allen both moved on to be named a top three finalist.
• It marks Georgetown's third-consecutive season with a MAC Hermann Semifinalist.
• This is the first time in program history that the Hoyas have had two semifinalists in one season.
• The only other schools to have two semifinalists on the list were New Hampshire and Washington.
• Georgetown was the only school recognized from the BIG EAST Conference.

About the MAC Hermann Trophy
The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967. Three men's finalists will be named for the award on Wednesday, Dec. 15. The 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy banquet will be held at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 7, 2022 to formally announce this year's winners.
