WASHINGTON –
Jake Carraway broke the Georgetown University men's lacrosse record for career goals as the Hoyas defeated visiting St. John's 19-1 in BIG EAST action on Saturday afternoon in the 2021 home opener. Carraway's second goal of the game to kick off scoring in the second half proved to the record-breaker, his 154th career goal.
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
• Georgetown held an opponent to just one goal for the second-straight week following a 16-1 win at then-No. 16/18 Villanova last Sunday.
• The Hoyas allowed the lone goal with 2:53 remaining in the first quarter and blanked the Red Storm for the final 47:07 of action

Owen McElroy posted 10 saves in just three quarters of play while the Hoya defense was credited with 13 caused turnovers, with
Joe LiCalzi,
James Donaldson and
Wallace Halpert each contributing a pair.
• Georgetown's man-down unit was impressive yet again, not allowing a Red Storm goal in six man-up opportunites.

James Reilly was nearly perfect at the 'X', winning nine of the faceoffs he took on the day. He added a goal just six seconds into the game and his fellow faceoff specialists combined for a 18-24 showing.
• Offensively, Carraway's six points led the day but
Nicky Petkevich was the Blue & Gray's top goal scorer with four.
Graham Bundy Jr. added a hat trick and 11 different Hoyas found the back of the net.
• Georgetown used crisp ball movement all day and assisted on 15 of its 19 goals.
ST. JOHN'S NOTES
• The Red Storm (1-2, 0-2 BIG EAST) drop their second BIG EAST game in a row after winning their season opener.
• Mike Madsen scored the lone goal for St. John's in the loss.
CARRAWAY'S RECORD
• Carraway broke Georgetown's career goal record that was set by former teammate
Daniel Bucaro in 2019.
• He is averaging 5.5 goals per game on the season and 7.5 points per game.
• Carraway is now just seven points away from Georgetown's all-time points record, held by Greg McCavera since 1999 with 236.
