WASHINGTON – A game after setting the Georgetown University men's lacrosse career goals record,
Jake Carraway broke the program mark for career points as the Hoyas defeated Mount St. Marys 17-5 on the road in nonconference action on Tuesday evening. Carraway scored five goals and added two assists for seven points, his final being the 237th of his record-setting career,
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
• Georgetown improved to 3-0 on the season with its third-straight margin of victory of 10 goals or more.
• Along with Carraway's seven points,
TJ Haley matched his septet with a goal and six assists. Haley's six helpers are tied for fourth most in a game in program history.
• Eleven different Hoyas found the back of the net on the evening with
Graham Bundy Jr. and
Colin Munro both notching a pair.
• Georgetown continued its unselfish style of play, assisting on 14 of its 17 goals.
• Defensively, the Hoyas were credited with 16 caused turnovers as
Will Godine and
Alex Mazzone both had three.
Jack Elders,
Zachary Geddes and
Will Tominovich both chipped in two. Mazzone would pace the Blue & Gray with seven ground balls.
• Between the pipes, the Hoyas went goalie-by-committee and combined for seven saves on the night.
Owen McElroy collected three while
Noah Klein and
Todd Kennedy Jr. both stopped a pair.
MOUNT ST. MARY'S NOTES
• Brendan Doyle led the Mountaineers (1-3) with two goals and an assist while Aaron Weisel had a pair of goals as well.
• Sam Stephan won 12-of-23 faceoffs and led all players with eight ground balls.
CARRAWAY'S RECORD
• Carraway set Georgetown's career points record with 237 a game after he broke the program goals mark against St. John's with 154.
• The previous record of 236, set by Greg McCavera in 1999, stood for more than 20 years before Tuesday.
• Carraway also has 77 career assists, just 17 shy of McCavera's career record of 94.
