WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team has released its 2021 schedule, as announced by Head Coach
Kevin Warne on Monday. The Hoyas will play 12 games on the season, including a double-round robin format in BIG EAST play for the first time in league history.
Nonconference Schedule
- The Hoyas currently have a pair nonconference games scheduled against its two longest historic rivals.
- Georgetown travels to face Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, March 2 in the 38th meeting between the two programs.
- The Blue & Gray heads to Loyola in Baltimore on Saturday, May 1 – playing for the 43rd time against the Greyhounds, the most against any team in school history.
BIG EAST Schedule
- Because of scheduling concerns with COVID-19, the BIG EAST has implemented a home-and-home double-round robin league format for the first time in conference history.
- The Hoyas travel to Villanova in the league opener on February 20 while the Wildcats make a return trip to the District on March 27.
- Georgetown's home opener against St. John's is slated for February 27 with a game against the Red Storm in Queens, New York on April 3.
- Marquette travels to the Nation's Capital on March 6 while the Hoyas face the Golden Eagles in Milwaukee on April 10.
- The showdowns against Denver start in the Mile High City on March 13 before the Pioneers head east to play the Hoyas at Cooper Field on April 17.
- Rounding out the slate, Georgetown travels to Providence on March 20 and closes out the conference schedule at home against the Friars on April 24.
BIG EAST Championship
- The 2020 BIG EAST Championship, presented by Jeep will be hosted by Providence, May 6 and 8.
- No changes are in store for the format as the top-four teams in the league standings earn a trip to the Ocean State.
Georgetown returns 35 letterwinners from 2020 and brings 12 new faces to the sidelines. The Hoyas open the season ranked No. 9 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Preseason Poll, No. 10 in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Media Poll and No. 11 in the US Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Poll.
