WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's
Owen McElroy was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) National Team of the Week, as announced by the organization earlier this week. McElroy was recognized for his outstanding play between the pipes in the Hoyas' 19-1 victory over St. John's over the weekend.

• Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
• Anchored the Hoya defense in the 19-1 victory over the Red Storm.
• Collected 10 saves for a stellar .909 save percentage and added three ground balls in the win.
• Held the Red Storm scoreless for 32:53 of action after their only goal more than 12 minutes into the game.
• Georgetown's man down unit was perfect in all six SJU attempts.
• The Hoyas allowed just one goal for the second-straight game to start the 2021 campaign.
McElroy is the third Hoya in the past two weeks to collected USILA National Team of the Week recognition.
Jake Carraway and
Gibson Smith were recognized last week after Georgetown's 16-1 win at then-No. 16/18 Villanova.
Georgetown returns to BIG EAST play as it welcomes Marquette to the Hilltop on Saturday, March 6 at noon.
