Hoyas Top Marquette 10-8 for Fourth-Straight Victory

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's 10th-ranked men's lacrosse team swept another BIG EAST opponent with a 10-8 victory on the road at Marquette on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas improve to 8-1 overall, 7-1 in league action, while the Golden Eagles fall to 1-7 on the season and 0-6 in conference play
 
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jake Carraway led the Hoyas with four goals and an assist while Dylan Watson added four goals and TJ Haley dished out four assists.
  • Graham Bundy Jr. chipped in two goals and an assist, Nicky Petkevich had three assists and Declan McDermott added a lone helper as well.
  • Defensively, Georgetown held its seventh opponent of the season to under 10 goals. Seven different Hoyas were credited with at least one caused turnover, including two from Haley and Gibson Smith – returning to the lineup for the first time since the season opener.
  • Joe LiCalzi collected a career-high six ground balls and Dylan Hess added three playing both ends of the field all day.
  • In goal, Owen McElroy hauled in nine saves as the Blue & Gray held Marquette scoreless for the final 17:26 of the game.
  • At the 'X', James Reilly won 14-of-22 (.636) of his faceoffs and grabbed a game-high nine ground balls.  
 
MARQUETTE NOTES
  • Devon Cowan scored six of the Golden Eagles' eight goals on the day with Jake Stegman and Griffin Fleming adding the others.
  • In goal, Sean Richard had 10 saves in the loss for Marquette.
 
OF NOTE
  • The Hoyas complete the regular season sweep over Marquette following a 20-13 win on the Hilltop in March.
  • Georgetown evens its all-time record against the Golden Eagles at 5-5 and picks up its first ever win in Milwaukee.
  • Played outdoors at Marquette's Valley Fields, the game was the first on natural grass for the Hoyas since the 2016 season.
  • Carraway's four goals give him 177 for his career, moving him into 17th place all-time for NCAA Division I career goals.
  • Haley's four assists give him 37 on the year, tying him for second most in a campaign with Lucas Wittenberg in 2019 and just five back from Greg McCavera's single season record of 42 in 1999.
  • Georgetown assisted on all 10 goals, the second game in-a-row to achieve the feat. The Hoyas have now assisted on 30 consecutive goals.
