WASHINGTON – Following an impressive showing at the Joe Walker Invitational and George Mason Spring Invitational, the Georgetown men's and women's outdoor track & field teams will head back to Charlottesville for the Virginia Challenge, hosted by the University of Virginia.

WOMEN'S PREVIEW
- The women's squad is entering 20 athletes into the competition.
- Sprints/Jumps/Hurdles: Maya Drayton, Lyric Harris, Tamiya Roberts, Grace Smiechowski.
- Middle Distance/Distance: Olivia Arizin, Sami Corman, Katie Dammer, Charlotte Dannatt, Alie Fordyce, Lexi Del Gizzo, Sierra Dinneen, Maggie Donahue, Chloe Gonzalez, Mary Hennelly, Baylee Jones, Cathilyn McIntosh, Katherine Modrall, Linnea Saltz, Kate Tavella, Julia Trethaway.
- Competing for the Hoyas in the 100-meter dash will be Maya Drayton and Tamiya Roberts; the duo has emerged, along with Chelsea Smith, as leaders in the long-sprint events and will drop down in distance to compete against the best short-sprinters the ACC, BIG EAST, and Big Ten have to offer.
- Roberts set a season-best mark of 25.34 in 200-meter dash last week at the Joe Walker Invitational.
- In the women's 1,500-meter run, Corman, Donahue, Gonzalez and Fordyce will lead the Hoyas.
- Corman and Fordyce both made their debut at the distance last weekend, where Corman set a personal best of 4:18.27 (No. 30 in NCAA) and Fordyce was just off her lifetime best.
- Freshman Gonzalez has enjoyed a successful start to her collegiate career setting personal bests in 1500- and 800-meter run in her first two weekends of racing, respectively, and will look to improve her season-best to chase qualification to the NCAA First Round.
- Donahue will step down and make her college debut at the 1500m distance after opening her Georgetown track career in the 5,000-meter run at 15:53.11 in the Raleigh Relays three weeks ago (No. 12 in NCAA, No. 5 all-time at Georgetown).
- Also racing in the women's event will be 2019 Georgetown alumna Josette Norris, who competes for the Reebok Boston Track Club.
- Hennelly made a lasting impression in her debut just two weeks ago at the Virginia Invitational, running 10:29.14 in the steeplechase, good for seventh all-time at Georgetown.
- The final women's event of the Friday schedule will feature Charlotte Dannatt making her debut for Georgetown in the women's 10,000m invitational; the junior from England is the 2020 British Senior Cross Country Champion.
MEN'S PREVIEW
- The men's squad is entering 20 athletes into the competition.
- Sprints/Jumps/Hurdles: Josiah Laney, Lawrence Leake, Malachi Quarles, Andrew Robinson.
- Middle Distance/Distance: Maazin Ahmed, Joshua Bell, Carter Blunt, Robert Brandt, Ty Brownlow, Ethan Delgado, Camden Gilmore, Tim McInerney, Quinn Nicholson, Price Owens, Matthew Payamps, Jack Salisbury, Parker Stokes, Jantz Tostenson, Shea Weilbaker, Theo Woods.
- Laney will race the men's 100-meter dash and look to improve his mark of 11.14 from the Raleigh Relays earlier this season; compete in the men's long jump.
- Payamps is fresh off a personal best of 3:43.06 in the 1500m and broke the 1:50-barrier for the 800m event, running 1:49.63 at the Virginia Challenge earlier this month.
- For the men's 5,000m, Brandt, who has qualified for the event at the 2021 Olympic Trials with his mark of 13:24.31 from March at the Sound Running Invite, will headline the event and be joined by Salisbury, Gilmore, and Weilbaker.
- Weilbaker will make his outdoor debut for Georgetown after placing 11th at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships and finishing as the second runner for the Hoyas at the NCAA Championships.
- Stokes, who was the number one runner at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and set a personal best in the 1500m of 3:43.05 last weekend, will make his collegiate debut in the steeplechase.
- As a high schooler in 2018 and 2019, Stokes was New Balance National Champion and has a personal best of 9:02.48.
