Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Georgetown University field hockey team fell to the Providence College Friars on Friday evening in its second BIG EAST conference contest of the season. With the 2-1 loss to Providence, Georgetown's record falls to 3-5 (0-2 BIG EAST) on the season.
How it Happened
· The game was scoreless through the first quarter. The Hoyas had two penalty corners and two shots, but neither team could put the ball in the cage.
· Providence put a point on the board first, scoring halfway through the second quarter. After a save by Georgetown goalkeeper
Ciara Weets, the Friars found the rebound and took a shot that found its way into the cage as the Hoyas attempted to recover. Providence led 1-0 at the half.
· Georgetown picked up the offensive intensity to start the second half, outshooting Providence 5-1 in the third quarter. Sophomore
Vivienne Trumpbour scored for the Hoyas six minutes into the third period to tie the game. Senior
Sydney Stephenson earned a penalty stroke shortly after the goal but was unable to complete the opportunity.
· With three minutes left in the third quarter, Providence found the cage again to bring the score to 2-1. The Friars regained their one-goal lead heading into the fourth.
· Weets worked to keep the Hoyas in the game with four saves in the final quarter, but the Hoyas could not convert any offensive opportunities into goals in the last 15 minutes of the game. The Friars fended off a Hoya attack off a penalty corner in the final minute and walked away with the victory.

· The Hoyas led the game with eight penalty corners to Providence's five.

Sydney Stephenson attempted the team's first penalty stroke on the season, but her shot was saved by Providence goalkeeper Asia Porter.
