Hoyas to Face Temple and La Salle at Home in Weekend Matchups

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University field hockey team returns to Cooper Field to face off against Temple University and La Salle University this weekend. The Hoyas match up against Temple on Friday at 1 p.m. in search of their first BIG EAST conference win. Georgetown field hockey stays on the Hilltop to take on La Salle on Sunday at 1 p.m.


Hoyas Scouting Report
·        Fifth year student Ali Cronin is Georgetown's current team leader in points with eight on the year. Cronin has four assists and two goals and is a reliable passer for the Hoyas on penalty corners.
·        The Hoyas pulled off a thrilling win against Brown University after the teams tied through overtime, forcing the game into penalty strokes. Four Hoyas scored their penalty stroke attempts to give Georgetown a 4-3 advantage in the shoutout.
·        Goalkeeper Ciara Weets has totaled 54 saves on the season in Georgetown's nine games.
 
Temple Scouting Report
·        The Owls rank second in the BIG EAST behind No. 12 Liberty University, posting a 2-0 conference record so far this season.
·        Temple is 6-3 on the season and undefeated on the road in the four away games it has played.
·        Temple goalkeeper Megan Ragusa has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll three times this season, including each of the last two weeks. Three Owls have been named to the Weekly Honor Roll, and freshman Devin Kinzel earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors once this season.
 
La Salle Scouting Report
·        La Salle's Sofia Pla was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week during the first week of the season. Pla leads the Explorers in goals scored with seven and has totaled 15 points on the year.
·        The Explorers are on a four-game losing streak and play Saint Louis University before coming to Cooper Field on Sunday.
