No. 1 Seeded Hoyas Progress to BIG EAST Championship

Box Score WASHINGTON – The No. 1 seeded Georgetown women's soccer team beat No. 5 Creighton 1-0 on Thursday night to advance to the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, November 6. This is the seventh consecutive BIG EAST Championship the Hoyas have made it to.

Head Coach Dave Nolan
"It was a challenging game. I thought in the first half we were excellent, scored a good goal and maybe could have had a few more. At 1-0, it's one of those games you feel like you could get a second goal early in the second half and break it open, but credit to Creighton. With about 20 minutes to go they took tons of chances. Their original three-man back system became a two-man system and they always had an extra player as they played balls in on top of us. We defended our crosses really well and when we had a couple of counter attack moments in transition, we could have got a second goal, but we just didn't wrap it up the way we wanted. We are very happy to be playing in our seventh consecutive BIG EAST Championship and we are looking to see if we can out-battle a very strong Xavier team on Sunday."
