Hoyas Face Fairleigh Dickinson and Navy Over the Weekend

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will travel to Hackensack, New Jersey to face the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights on Friday night and then head back home to host the Navy Midshipmen on Sunday afternoon at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas will face the Knights at 7 p.m., before hosting the Midshipmen at 2 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports.

About the Hoyas
  • The Hoyas (5-3) went 1-1 to open BIG EAST play this past weekend.
  • Georgetown fell to Marquette 78-57 on Friday before defeating Xavier 74-52 on Sunday.
  • Freshman Kennedy Fauntleroy led the way with a career-best 28 points, while junior Kelsey Ransom scored 13 and graduate student Kristina Moore had 10 to round out those in double figures.
  • Ransom led the Hoyas with nine rebounds, adding four assists and two steals.
  • Sophomore Ariel Jenkins was an anchor off the bench, posting nine points, six rebounds and a career-high four blocks.
  • The Hoyas shot 48.4% (30-62) from the field and 46.2% (6-13) from beyond the arc, while allowing 33.9% (19-56) shooting by the Musketeers.
  • Fauntleroy was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday after performances of 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals against Marquette and 28 points off 11-of-15 shooting against Xavier.
  • Fauntleroy is leading the Hoyas in scoring with 11.9 ppg as well as 18 steals so far this season.
  • Georgetown will play two nonconference games before returning to conference play in Chicago to face DePaul.
About the Knights
  • Fairleigh Dickinson (7-2) comes into Friday's contest on a four-game win streak, and has won seven of its last eight overall.
  • In their last matchup, the Knights took down UMass Lowell 62-48, shooting 44.4% (24-54) overall and 40.0% (4-10) from deep while holding the River Hawks to 28.3% (15-53) from the field.
  • The Knights were led by the duo of Chloe Wison and Dahomée Forgues who both led the team with 16 points in the contest. Eniya Scott and Sierra DeAngelo also chipped in, scoring 13 and 11 points, respectively.
  • For her play, Sierra DeAngelo was named NEC Player of the Week on Monday.
  • DeAngelo averaged 12.5 points per game during the week while adding 8.5 rebounds a night in wins against NJIT and UMass Lowell.
Series Information
  • This will be the first ever matchup between the two programs.
  • Friday the second BIG EAST opponent faced by Fairleigh Dickinson this season after opening the year with a 75-47 loss to Marquette.
About the Mids
  • Navy is 0-10 on the season and most recently fell to Binghamton by a score of 54-51.
  • The Mids have lost four games this season by single-digit margins, with their closest bouts coming against Binghamton, Idaho in a 90-84 defeat and Maryland Eastern Shore where Navy fell 72-66.
  • Shannon Clarke was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday, coming off the bench and scoring in double figures in both of Navy's games last week against Rider and Maryland Eastern Shore.
  • For the week, Clarke averaged 10.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 three-pointers and 1.5 assists over 24.0 minutes per game.
  • As a program this was the fifth overall weekly award garnered for the Midshipmen during the 2022-23 season

  • Georgetown is 10-2 all-time against Navy and 4-0 at home.
  • The Hoyas have won the last seven bouts between the two programs, most recently defeating the Midshipmen 73-62 last season in Annapolis.
