Georgetown Wraps Up Road Trip at No. 10/10 Villanova

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team (6-19, 0-14 BIG EAST) heads to Philadelphia to take on the No. 10/10 Villanova University Wildcats (20-6, 13-3 BIG EAST) at Finneran Pavilion on Saturday, February 19. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas are coming off a 77-66 setback at No. RV/23 Marquette. Collin Holloway led four in double figures with 15 points on three treys and a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe against No. RV/23 Marquette.
  • Aminu Mohammed recorded his ninth double-double of the year with 13 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. It marked the second time this season the Hoya freshman has posted a double-double in back-to-back games.
  • Donald Carey recorded his 14th-straight game in double figures with 14 points while Dante Harris rounded out those in double digits with 14 of his own.
  • The Hoyas shot 15-of-16 (93.8%) from the line and hit 11 treys on the night, marking the ninth time this season the Hoyas have recorded 10 or more triples in a game.
  • The Blue & Gray has four players averaging double figures: Mohammed (14.1 ppg), Carey (13.5 ppg), Kaiden Rice (12.3 ppg) and Harris (11.7 ppg).
  • Carey has recorded 14-straight games in double figures, averaging 14.4 ppg on 43.8% shooting (67-153) and 40% from distance (36-90) over that span.
  • In conference play, Carey is averaging 14.3 ppg, followed by Mohammed (13.6 ppg), Rice (10.9 ppg) and Harris (10.6 ppg).
 
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
  • No. 10 Villanova has won four straight, besting No. 24/24 UConn, St. John's, Seton Hall and No. 8/9 Providence during its win streak.
  • Collin Gillespie leads VU with 16.8 ppg (2nd - BE) while pacing the conference with 84 three-point field goals made, 43.5% from behind the arc and 92.3 % from the line.
  • The Wildcats rank first in the BE for fewest turnovers (255), efficiency from deep (36.3%), 3-pointers/game (9.2) and free-throw percentage (82.6%, 1st - NCAA).
 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Saturday will mark the 91st all-time meeting between GU and Villanova, with the teams locked at 45 in the historic series.
GU has split its last two contests with the Wildcats, last falling to then-No. 11 Villanova at home on January 22. Georgetown's most recent victory came on March 11, 2021, when the Hoyas beat the Wildcats 72-71 in a tight BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinal. Dante Harris totaled 18 points and five assists in the quarterfinal matchup en route to the program's eighth conference title.
