Three Hoyas Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors

WASHINGTON – For the second-straight week, Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team had three players recognized for their standout performances by the BIG EAST. Graduate student Owen McElroy and senior James Reilly were named the BIG EAST Defensive Player and Midfielder of the Week, respectively, while graduate student attackman Connor Morin was named to the weekly honor roll, as announced by the league office on Monday after the Hoyas defeated No. 4 Notre Dame on the road over the weekend.

  • Tied a career high with 24 saves, the second most in a single game in Georgetown history.
  • Posted a .686 save percentage in his third win over a nationally-ranked opponent this season.
  • Georgetown's defense held 2021 Tewaaraton Award finalist Pat Kavanagh to just one goal on 10 shots.
  • This is McElroy's eighth career BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week Award.

  • Took every faceoff in the game for the Hoyas, winning 21-of-29 (.724).
  • His 21 faceoffs win are fourth most in a game in Georgetown history.
  • Added 14 ground balls and an assist.
  • Moved past 500 career faceoffs wins – second most at Georgetown.
  • Passed Brodie Merrill for third all-time on the Hilltop with 287 ground balls.
  • This is Reilly's fifth BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week Award and second in as many weeks.

Bernardsville, N.J.
  • Had three goals and an assist in his first game back in South Bend after transferring to Georgetown from Notre Dame.
  • Scored Georgetown's second goal of the game to give the Hoyas a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish.
  • Added back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter of a 13-11 game to put the contest out of reach for GU's third-straight win over a nationally-ranked opponent.
  • This is Morin's second-straight nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
