Baseball to Take On Mount St. Mary’s with New Dates and Times

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will look to continue its winning ways when it takes on Mount St. Mary's this weekend. Due to expected rain coming through the area, times and dates have been changed.

The Hoyas and the Mountaineers will play one game on Friday, March 18 with first pitch slated for 5 p.m. at Shirley Povich Field before heading to Emmitsburg, Virginia on Sunday, March 20 for an 11 a.m. doubleheader at Straw Family Stadium.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown is coming off a nail-biting 5-4 victory on the road against George Mason on Wednesday.
  • The Hoyas are off to their best 16-game start since the 2017 season, matching the team's 10-6 mark.
  • Three Hoyas are rolling with reached base streaks of 10 games or more, including Ethan Stern (16G), Adam Dapkewicz (12G) and Owen Carapellotti (10G).
  • Jake Hyde also paces the conference with 30 hits (9th in NCAA), nine doubles and a .864 slugging percentage while ranking second with 18 runs behind teammate Stern (20).
  • Angelo Tonas recorded his third save of the season against George Mason, ranking first in the conference.
  • The Hoyas lead the BIG EAST offensively with 111 runs scored and 26 home runs.
 
SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY'S
  • The Mountaineers are coming off an extra-inning 4-3 victory over Bucknell with a walk-off homer from Thomas Bramley in the 10th frame. Mount St. Mary's picked up its third win of the season on Wednesday.
  • Bramley is also the team's leader offensively, batting .364 with 16 hits and all five of the team's home runs.
  • Reliever Max Moore is the Mount's top pitcher, boasting a 0.93 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 9.2 innings of work.
  • Through 12 games this season, the opposition is hitting .284 and scoring 8.1 runs/game off Mountaineer pitching.
  • Friday will mark the 33rd all-time meeting between the two programs with the Hoyas holding a 20-12 overall record against the Mountaineers. GU and MSM have split its last four contests since reigniting its rivalry in 2017 with Georgetown's last win coming in 2018 (12-5).

After three games with Mount St. Mary's, the Hoyas will head to the University of Delaware on March 22 for a newly added contest beginning at 4 p.m. before returning to Povich on March 23 for a date with Coppin State at 3 p.m.
