Baseball Heads to UMBC on Tuesday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will look to bounce back when it heads to Baltimore on Tuesday, April 12 to face UMBC. First pitch for Tuesday's contest is slated for 6 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown's bats cooled off over the weekend at Creighton following a nine-homer, 17-1 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday.
  • Ubaldo Lopez came on strong for the second-straight week, going 9-for-18 (.500) with four homers and seven RBIs in four starts. He became the first player in program history and second in all of NCAA this season to smack four home runs in a game against the Hawks on Tuesday. He also earned a spot on the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's National Players of the Week list.
  • Jake Hyde continues to pace the BIG EAST with 13 home runs (T-8th in NCAA), 38 runs and 36 RBIs.
  • Georgetown leads the conference with 64 home runs (4th in NCAA) while ranking second with 236 runs this season (7.4 per game). 
  • The Hoyas are off to their best start at home, posting a 12-2 record and boasting a .312/.419/.649 slash line as a team with 9.0 runs/game.

SCOUTING UMBC
  • The Retrievers have lost five of their last six, snapping their five-game losing streak with a 9-6 win over UMass Lowell on Sunday.
  • Myles Nicholson paces the UMBC lineup with a .428 batting average, 50 hits, 36 runs and 26 RBIs in 29 starts.
  • The Hoyas knocked off the Retrievers in their only contest this season with a walk-off, three-run jack from Lopez to lift GU to a 9-7 victory on March 1 at Shirley Povich Field.
