Georgetown Moves Up to Fifth at BIG EAST Championship Behind O’Neill’s -5 Day

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University shaved eight strokes off its opening day score to shoot 287 and move into fifth place at the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship, Presented by JEEP on Tuesday afternoon. Senior captain Will O'Neill shot a 5-under, 67 – the second lowest round of the day – to pace the Hoyas.
 
Round 2 Results
  • Brad Whitaker shot even par on Tuesday to remain in the hunt for individual medalist honors. He is currently tied for second overall with a 36-hole score of 140 and is six shots off the lead.
  • O'Neill's 67 catapulted him into the top five, tying him for fifth overall at 141 over two days.
  • Jacob Finard cut three strokes off his Monday score and is tied for 33rd at 149 while Charlie Creamean also shot two strokes better to tie for 41st with a 152.
  • Pieter DeGroot shot a 79 and is tied for 45th overall at 157.
Overall Standings
  • Marquette and UConn are tied for the tournament lead with matching 570 totals while Seton Hall is right behind them at 571.
  • Creighton (580), Georgetown (582) and St. John's (584) are separated by just four strokes.
  • Xavier (587), Villanova (588), Butler (591) and DePaul (594) all round out the field.
