WASHINGTON – Nine Georgetown University men's lacrosse players were named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-Americans, including four first team honorees and a pair of national positional players of the year, as announced by the governing body on Thursday.
Owen McElroy was a repeat selection for the Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Award as the top collegiate goalkeeper while
Will Bowen was recognized with the William C. Schmeisser Award as the most outstanding defenseman in college lacrosse.
Joining Bowen and McElroy as First Team All-Americans were midfielder
Graham Bundy Jr. and short stick defensive midfielder
Zachary Geddes.
Gibson Smith IV earned his fourth All-America nod of his career with a third team nod while
Alex Mazzone,
James Reilly,
Alex Trippi and
Dylan Watson all collected honorable mention accolades.
Winning in 2021 and 2022, McElroy is the first player to win national goalie of the year honors in back-to-back seasons since John Galloway in 2010 and 2011. Bowen is just the second Hoya to win the Schmeisser Award, joining Brodie Merrill (C'05) in 2005.
