WASHINGTON- The Georgetown University field hockey team opens the 2022 campaign on the road, taking on Davidson and Appalachian State. Friday's matchup against the Wildcats is at 4:30 p.m. Sunday's matchup against the Mountaineers is set for noon.
 
Hoyas Scouting Report
	- Fifth-year Ciara Weets returns between the pipes for the Hoyas after a stellar 2021 campaign. Weets was named First Team All-BIG EAST as well as conference Defensive Player of the Year.
- Sophie Towne returns for her sophomore season after putting up six goals and one assist in her first year on the Hilltop.
- Seven newcomers joined the Hoyas this fall while 12 girls returned from last season.
- Head Coach Christy Longacre added new assistant coach Hope Sullivan to the 2022 staff.
- The Hoyas are coming off of their best season in program history, which saw them finish with a 10-8 record.
 
Davidson Scouting Report
	- Head Coach Zoe Almquist enters her fourth season at the helm of the Wildcats.
- Davidson returned 20 players from last season and added eight newcomers to the roster.
- Macy Curtis returns for the Wildcats after a stellar freshman campaign that saw her tabbed as an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection. Curtis had two goals and four assists in 18 games last season.
 
Appalachian State Scouting Report
	- Head Coach Meghan Dawson enters her eighth season at the helm.
- App State returns 18 players from last year's roster and added seven newcomers to the roster.
- Graduate student Friederike Stegen returns for App State after a senior season that saw her named to the NFHCA Division 1 All-Region Second Team in the South Region. She has played in 70 career games, starting in all of them and has registered seven career goals and 15 assists. 
 
Up Next
After the Hoyas two-game road trip, they will return to the Hilltop to host Sacred Heart for its 2022 home opener on September 2 at 1 p.m. Georgetown will be back in action on Sunday, September 4 for a noon contest against Queens University of Charlotte.
