WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field program competed in the Terrier Classic and the Riverhawk Invitational on Friday and Saturday. A strong day for the Blue & Gray on Saturday was sparked by four Hoya men running sub four-minute miles on Friday. On Saturday,
Joshua Paige won the 200m event with a time of 21.28.
ON THE RECORD
"What an exciting weekend in Boston!! We had some very high-level performances at both meets, with several PB and Season's best by our Men & Women.
At the Riverhawk Invitational,
Maya Drayton's Season's best of 55.62 in the 400m and
Jadah Fitzgerald's Indoor personal best of 24.56 in the 200m were the highlight for the women. Our men saw
Malachi Quarles running an Indoor personal best of 8.25 in the 60m Hurdles for 3rd Overall. I thought Josh Paige showed he'll be back to his best later this season, opening his Indoor Season with a convincing win in the 200m running 21.28 seconds.
Our entire team is looking forward to a week off from competing and gearing up for more big efforts in February." - Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Alton McKenzie
"For the third time since 2015 we had 4 Hoyas run under 4 minutes in the Mile at the same meet. I can confidently say it does not get old.
Matt Rizzo ran a great race to run the second fastest indoor mile in school history and was the top collegiate in the field.
Abel Teffra,
Camden Gilmore and
Lucas Guerra executed great races as well. I am very confident that when we go back to Boston in two weeks that they will run much faster." - Assistant Coach for Track & Field
Brandon Bonsey
"I'm proud of the way the women competed. We focused our energy on middle distance races and came away with some big steps forward in race management and performance level. Putting Claeson #7, Jensen #12, and Gonzalez #16 as first time entrants onto the all-time list in the mile is awesome, and Riggins jumping from #10 to #8 on the 800m is a great opener for her. Caamano in the 1k and McDonald in the 800 looked great and are ready for big things in the next month." - Assistant Coach for Track & Field
Mitchell Baker
